On Saturday 26 April, our very own Lloyd Burnett stepped into the ring for a black-tie charity boxing event in Hastings, raising an impressive £960 for MIND - a leading mental health charity that supports those facing mental health challenges across the UK.
If you’ve been following Lloyd’s journey through our previous newsletters, you’ll know just how much time, dedication, and discipline he poured into preparing for this event. From rigorous training sessions to maintaining a strict diet and balancing it all with work, Lloyd’s commitment was nothing short of inspiring.
Here’s what Lloyd had to say about the fight:
“The fight went as well as it could. I thought I had the first round, came out strong. He took the second round, and the third was close—but I think I did enough in the last 30 seconds to clinch it. I was making use of my jab and uppercut, but he was a strong guy and wouldn’t drop. He caught me with some good punches that surprised me—luckily I didn’t go down! He was bigger and younger, but experience kept him at bay, lol.”
Lloyd’s performance in the ring was a display of grit, strategy, and heart, and his fundraising total is a testament to the support he’s received from friends, colleagues, and the wider community.
This was an amazing achievement for a fantastic cause, and we couldn’t be prouder. Well done, Lloyd! You've done JA Brooks and MIND proud.
